Honeymoon Trip Part I

The reason why I have not been posting very much is a) there is not a ton to talk about during the summer and b) I have been slowly but surely been putting together the England/Italy post.

So I've decided to just take y'all through some photos of the trip. A picture is worth a thousand words, right? No worries, there will be commentary.First, we flew into the Gatwick Airport in London, England. It was 7 am so we were way excited to have the entire day to get over our jetlag (hint of sarcasm there). This is a picture of Kirk's VERY FIRST tube station experience. He didn't like me taking all these pictures because "it made it obvious that we were tourists" but I didn't care. :)

After dropping our bags off at the hotel, I wanted to show Kirk where I lived during study abroad. This is me in front of the BYU London Centre. I attended study abroad in 2006 and lived here! It was kind of funny, I actually ran into a girl from my writing class this semester on this very street! It kind of makes sense...it's a humanities program and a lot of English majors do this study abroad.

I lived on the very top floor!! Sooooo many steps every day.

Kirk in front of Buckingham Palace. There's another one JUST LIKE it with me in front, but I'll just put one up. Just picture my beautiful face on Kirk's body. Wait a sec...

Yes, ladies and gentlemen. We saw WICKED! I love love loved it! Kirk fell asleep because he was so jetlagged, but he still enjoyed it for the most part. Ahh!! It was amazing. Londoners really know how to act/sing.

Above: Kirk and I in front of Westminster Abbey. My third time going here! Below: This was in our hotel room in London. I just thought it was hilarious!

Me! Oh and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We flew into Pisa from London, and WOW we were just a little freaked out with our lack of Italian + all the Italian being spoken around us. It all turned out ok though. We tried to speak the little Italian we knew at the beginning of the trip, and then just got really lazy at the end, asking "Parla Ingleze?" over and over again.

Above: Kirk did a much better job pretending to push the tower over than I did. :) Below: our beautiful room in Florence. I loved this bed because it looked so...Italian. Unfortunetly, it was also pretty uncomfortable.

Above: Kirk and I on one of our many train rides.

This is a really cool angle of the Duomo in Florence. Kirk was OBSESSED with the duomo. He's already read a book about it since the trip.

This is an amazing sculpture in the Duomo museum. This is another Michaelangelo Pieta. Interesting fact: the face of the man holding Jesus is actually the face of Michaelangelo! This was one of his much later sculptures. I thought it was neat because it seems to show really tender and personal feelings towards Christ from Michaelangelo.

These pics of the David are ILLEGAL! Haha, well kind of. I didn't know we weren't supposed to take pictures until two minutes after. But I still got them! Bwa-ha-ha!

I didn't want to make this post super long (well...longer than it already is) so there will be yet another installment of pics! :)

I refrained from bursting into tears whilst looking at these pictures. But just barely.
