Sydney-ism

If something is not to her liking, she simply says "It is too small..."

Let's put this in a sentence:

M: "Come on, Syd! Let's go bye bye!"

S: "Uhhh...No, I think it's too small."

or...

M: (sets food on her tray) "Here's lunch, sweets!"

S: "Ummm...No, I think it's too small."

or...

M: Do you want to watch {insert movie/tv show here}

S: "Ummm...No, I think it's too small."

Brazos Bend State Park FHE (September 30th)

We thought that this looked like something out of a science fiction movie.

Kirk and I realized that we love the idea of outdoors, but we're kind of pansies. The outdoors has bugs. And sometimes is smelly. We still had a fun time hanging out at the park though. :) Sydney had a blast running around uninhibited because there was literally no one else there for most of the time. Nina was happy as a clam too.

Catching Up

On her blessing day, August 5th, in the same dress that both Sydney and I wore when we were blessed. I just love those eyes! 3 months old.

She even knows to wave at the camera!

Both of these girls are seriously my whole world. A tiring, crazy, diaper-changing, lullaby-singing, princess-movie-watching world.

Sabrina is now almost five months old. I cannot believe she has been in our lives for so long now! The past few days she has been trying to roll over, and just couldn't get that arm over. Today, she did! I had set her on her back under her little play gym, and as I was getting Sydney ready for Mother's Day Out, I guess she succeeded in getting that arm over! She had initiated her own tummy time (and was not too happy about that).

She is such a happy baby. She smiles and sticks her tongue out while she does it. She is trying very hard to do raspberries and just gets blue in the face trying to do them. Haha. She sleeps through the night great and is good at being flexible with nap times (which is awesome, since we usually are only consistent with the afternoon nap). Sabrina, just like Sydney, usually wakes up when we stop the car.

I have tried to see if Sydney wants to play with baby dolls, and she likes them just fine...but they aren't bunny! Bunny goes in the car seat, the excersaucer, the swing...any place that a baby should go. :D

First day of Mother's Day Out. Before I had kids I thought that kids wearing stuff like this just looked tacky. But seriously, there is only one time in your life that you can wear a Dora dress and not be embarrassed, right? So I am embracing it!

September 22nd. Sydney went to a fair at the Arboretum with Oma and Grandad Siddoway. Look at her holding so still!

Sydney is a whirlwind. She is full of energy and life. She loves to play "going to sleep," where she lies down on a pillow with a blanket on top of her, pretends to sleep, and then sits up suddenly and says "surprise!" If only she would really sleep at Mother's Day Out...we're still working on that.

Sydney is cutting her two-year-old molars right now. I feel so bad, because I did not realize what was going on for several days. I just knew she was really weepy. I do, however, remember telling my mom last week that she was acting "like she was in pain," but I couldn't tell what it was! Poor thing. Now she's hopped up on Tylenol and Baby Orajel. She's not quite so weepy, but still a little tender. One has broken the skin and two are about to.

Sydney phrases right now:

"choo-choo" = tutu
"Sydney [insert Dora or princess movie here] watch"
"I so happy to see you!"
"Where Daddy go?"
"Gun-Gun"= Grandad
"Daddy gonna getchu??" (She runs into whatever room we are in and shuts the door. Even when Kirk isn't here. Haha!)

Speaking of Kirk, he just finished up his pathology rotation and started on his internal medicine rotation this week. I am rooting for pathology, because that means not working on weekends or nights, but he is going back and forth about it. He says he is enjoying internal medicine so far. I just have to brace myself for the fact that I am probably going to be a typical resident's wife, not seeing my husband days at a time and sleeping alone. Maybe I'll get a dog...Haha. But I seriously want him to do what makes him happy. I keep telling him that I would rather have him doing long hours and coming home happy, than working shorter hours and being bored/unsatisfied with his job. We'll see what happens!

As for me, I'm trying to be better about exercising (it's so hard after the second one!) and remembering to take a breather once in a while. I was dealing with post-partum anxiety for about a month or two, but I think things are getting much better. My hormones have stabilized and I'm not beating myself up about things (as much...). The house is constantly in turmoil and very rarely is my living room not littered with toys, but I'm loving my life. The last few weekends were crazy, with Time Out for Women (I was the scholarship coordinator) and the Mud Run in Austin with the sister-in-laws.

Oh, and I have only one book to go in the Shopaholic series. I am loving that chick lit.! It's nice to have an easy read that I literally laugh out loud to sometimes. The next book that I need to read in like a week for book club is People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. I'm nervous about going back to something that is not light and fluffy, but I keep reminding myself that I like to be intellectually stimulated. Sometimes... :D

Sabrina

Sabrina is now 9 1/2 weeks old. holy cow! i cannot believe it. i feel like i am spending so much time soaking up her cooing and her smiling, that i don't want to put her down to take a picture. i am taking pictures of our cute little Nina though.

she is now sleeping relatively through the night. i put her down between 7 and 8 pm and she sometimes gets up at 3 or 4 am for a little snack, but now more and more she is sleeping until 6:30/7 am. i am a happy mom! it's nice to have that time to myself or with kirk at night when the kids are in bed.

words can't express how much i love my little sabrina. she is a little wiggler...often hard to hold on to because she wants to just get moving already! she loves tummy time (unlike sydney, who would scream her head off when we tried to do it). sabrina gets super chill and relaxed on her belly. i'm cool with that.

she loves her swing that rocks her back and forth. she hates her bouncer for some reason. she loves the one at my parents' house, but not the one we have at our house. weird. maybe it's because the one her grandparents have is pink and flowery. she's already a girly girl!

What We've Been Up to Lately

Sydney LOVES her baby sister. (Sometimes a little too much...we are still working on being gentle when giving the baby some love). She calls her "Ina" or "Nina." She always asks for her baby sister first thing in the morning, and after nap time. She gets upset if it looks like Ina is not going in the car with us. Sydney is also super helpful with grabbing me a burp cloth or throwing away things when I am sitting nursing and don't want to get up.

Trying on Mommy's sunglasses. You can see Kirk in the very back by the car that is stuck in the sand. He tried to help them get their car unstuck (so sweet of him!). Fortunately, some people in a jeep ended up pulling up and helped drag the car out. It was pretty jammed in there.

Playing with her best friend, Addie. The took turns riding in the stroller and running said stroller into the wall. Haha. Gotta love toddlers.

Our fam riding the train at Hermann Park. Sydney loved this train ride SO much, that she refused to get off when the ride ended. Kirk had to literally drag her off. He was wearing scrubs because it was his lunch break. We met him at the park (with Subway sandwiches) and had a picnic lunch. Super fun!

Love this little baby. I have been feeling guilty about not taking a lot of pictures. Honestly newborn pics look all the same to me. . . But now that this cute Sabrina is starting to smile more, we will be taking lots of pics!
