Happiness is Going Jogging with Your Gal Pal

do you love my bright red face? i get so red when i work out. :p

and sydney kept looking at my arm that was holding out the camera, but it's all good. she's still a cutie. this was the first time we went running with her facing forward in the jogging stroller, and i have to say it was an adjustment not having the weight of the car seat while pushing. yes, it made the stroller much lighter, but it also made it harder to control. meh. we'll get the hang of it.

Happiness is Talking Late at Night with a Best Friend

I'm a mom??

yesterday i had to take sydney into the doctor because she was super warm (apparently she had a temperature of a 102) and was obviously not feeling well. she slept on my chest and basically cuddled all day. she also wasn't eating very well. now i know that the reason for all this is because she caught some virus (i'm blaming the gym daycare...i've worked at a gym daycare before and i know that it's not very clean!) that is going to take about three days to get through her system. oh, and she has blisters on the back of her throat.
poor little kid.

i had one of those moments when i was in the examination room waiting for the doctor to come in. you know the ones i'm talking about...the moment where you're afraid that someone is going to come in and yell, "you're a fraud! how DARE you think you're a
____ "(fill in the blank with mom, or whatever you are right now). apparently doctors have this fear too. it's called "Impostor's Syndrome." kirk told me that some doctors basically are just waiting to be found out. they think they are impostors, even though they have been to four years of medical school, x years of residency and fellowship and blah blah blah. but i digress.

i had the feeling that i was an impostor holding this sick baby girl in the doctor's office. i couldn't be a mom, responsible for the well-being of this little human. nuh uh. they've got the wrong woman. i got a little panicky. i haven't felt this way about being a mom in a while. it used to happen more when syd was first born.

just to let y'all know, syd is just fine. she was laughing and crawling after the kitty last night. she seemed to perk up after the doctor gave her motrin. i think mom was more freaked out than she was.

enjoy some pics of the little munchkin and the big...munchkin... :)

So long, friend!

oh Ugly Betty...you, me and netflix have been such pals these past few months. on the one hand, i'm sad to be done with watching you. on the other hand, i'm relieved to not have this show that i'm completely addicted to.

goal for this next week: no watching tv, unless it's with kirk-a-licious. (i feel like i can allow myself to watch it with him, because then we can snuggle). we'll see how long i last without this addiction. :p i'll be listening to lots of music to make sure i don't feel lonely!

in other news, sydney is continuing to do her army crawl/real crawl. let the baby proofing commence!!

and i can't wait until next wednesday, because then i will have a husband again. he is studying like crazy for his tests right now!

ate some paper and started choking so i had to dig it out of her mouth.

Dating

my mom and i have said this before--trying to find new friends in a new area is like dating all over again.

you worry that the person that you like doesn't like you back. you worry that you're making a fool of yourself. and sometimes, it simply feels like you are constantly going on first dates, and just can't seem to make it to that third date where things aren't quite so awkward.

overall i'm feeling good in the friend department. i've got a couple of solid friends that i can confide in and hang out with here. i feel extremely blessed for that.

i am trying to get a girls night going this weekend (so if you're in the area, let me know if you want to join!) and the couple of people who have responded are the ones that i have already made it to that "third date." they are people that i admire and want to get to know even better, and that have extended invites to me as well. i like it when the reciprocity goes on. i feel less vulnerable and like i can be myself around the person.

it took about six months in this area, but i feel like i can go to an event and feel comfortable because i'll know at least one person by name or face. being such a social bug (no, not a butterfly. a bug. lol) this is extremely important to me.

in other news, this was sydney's position sleeping last night:

if you can't tell, she is kneeling with her head down. she looks like an ostrich with its head in the sand. she was so out that she didn't even move when i took these pictures! love that little syd.

Holy Worcerstershire

i dropped a glass bottle of Worcestershire sauce on the ground this morning. sauce and glass flew everywhere.

i cursed and threw the bottle of ketchup i was holding across the kitchen.

i am glad sydney was asleep. i was not being a great example of keeping your temper.

other than that lovely incident, it has been a pleasant morning. the sun is finally shining, and i am going to hang out with my in-laws after sydney wakes up.

hope you all are keeping warm!
