My mom rocks

10 things i love about my mom:

10. i can talk to her about anything. i feel really lucky that i can have an open and honest relationship with her.

9. she's an awesome writer. she's already been published in a couple of publications, and she is working on lots more!

8. she is an example of someone who gets off her butt and pursues goals. she has done this by graduating with her bachelor's in her 40's even though she didn't have to. she also has written a book and is trying to get it published right now. she always talks about "what she wants to be when she grows up" and i know she'll continue to be five different women in one, reaching for enough goals to last a thousand lifetimes.

7. she always puts us kids first. she told me once that she never wanted to get so involved in a project that she couldn't stop it at a moment's notice for her kids. maybe this is why the craft room has a bajillion unfinished projects, and if something ended up in the mending pile it was doomed to never emerge again. but i never felt like i was bothering her by asking for help on something, or needing to talk. i love that.

6. she keeps a clean house. those who know me best know that i am not known for having a spotless home. :p i use her as my inspiration to be better in this particular part of my life.

5. she is a health nut. kirk thought it was weird that white bread is like candy to me--we rarely had it in the house. :)

4. she has great advice. kirk knows that if i'm not sure about something, all i need to do is talk to my mom and she'll be able to convince me one way or the other. not just because she's my mom, but because she knows what she's talking about.

3. she serves faithfully in her church callings and has always encouraged us to attend church activities to support the leaders.

2. she loves my dad and she loves us.
