Thoughts

this is going to be a random post, but i haven't had one of those in a while. so why not?

sydney is getting cuter and cuter every day. she takes steps occasionally but prefers to crawl. she is also now at the stage that i like to call the "cry-at-basically-everything" stage. i've seen it in other kids, and now she has it. everything is so dramatic! we're teaching her baby sign language to certain things (for example: more, please, thank you, milk, food, all done) and she has caught on to certain signs. but when she gets really desperate (which happens a lot, hehe) she goes through multiple signs and simply says "more" over and over again. more could mean anything. she just wants...something. thank goodness for pointing, because at least then i realize she wants the milk on the counter, the crackers on the counter...ok usually it's some sort of food. :) what can i say? she's a growing girl.

kirk is now an MS2, which i love to say because it sounds like it's some sort of secret agent designation. he dove right in to his classes starting in august and is going to be studying for tests fairly soon. we're getting a bit stressed about the impending doom that will occur next july, ie the complete lack of subsidization of our student loans thanks to all the government changes that have been happening, but we know that it'll all work out. he's doing what he loves and i know i want to stay at home with our kiddo. so that's that!

right now i am in the pre-training phase of preparing to run a half marathon in october. i figure it's the perfect time to do it. i'm not pregnant or nursing, and i'm in shape enough that training will be arduous, but not unrealistic. i'm extremely excited about doing the half marathon, and really really hope that i can convince someone to run it with me. if not, i will still do it because i have wanted to do this for a long time. :)

i am also hoping to finish the quilt i started making for syd very soon. a pic of it is on facebook, but i'm going to wait to post a pic of the finished product on the blog.

we are very, very hot here in houston. i cannot wait until this heat starts subsiding. thank goodness i'm not kirk, who has to walk about fifteen minutes to and from school wearing his backpack. yuck.

i'm starting to get sick of facebook. don't know if i should just get off entirely, or try to wean myself so i'm not on every day. or *cough* multiple times a day. i love that i can connect with people and stay in contact with friends that are far away. but i think it's seriously messed up how a) people won't tell you that you did something wrong and unfriend you (i know this is not always the case with unfriending, but with certain people recently it has been the case) and b) that i even care! seriously...when did a click of the mouse get so much power?? ah, such is life.

sooo...yeah. i think that's the end of my random thoughts. sleep sweet!

That's awesome that you're doing a half marathon! I've never even attempted a 10K!

I know what you mean about facebook. I try to only unfriend people I don't think will notice. My feeling is that I'll unfriend anyone I haven't talked to in more than 5 years and/or who I'm not really sure how I know them.

Wow, that's awesome. About the marathon. If it were me and I couldn't find anyone go run with me... I wouldn't do it. Terrible, I know! heh and as far as facebook goes.... people are lame. Please don't delete your facebook. I know I feel the same about it and think about deleting it but I don't know if I would cuz like you said, it good for staying in contact with people who live far away! Wow.. I'm writing a lot. Sorry. Love you Rach!!!!!!
